How to Upload a Youtube Video

You will need:

· A pre-recorded video

· Computer or cell phone

· Internet connection

Preparation:

You can make a video for YouTube using a digital camera, web cam or cell phone. To edit your video, you can use Windows MovieMaker, iMovie (Mac) or any number of other programs.

YouTube allows you to upload a variety of video formats but each video can be no more than 15 minutes in length or 2GB in size.

Upload Video from Computer

Step 1: Log into your YouTube account and at the top of the page, click Upload.

Step 2: A new page will open. Click Upload Video or Record From Webcam depending on which you want to do.

Step 3: If you select to Upload Video, a new box will open, click Browse.

Step 4: Locate the prerecorded video you want to upload from your computer and click Open to start the upload.

Step 5: Fill in the video information and privacy settings.

· Video Title

· Description

· Tag (keywords describing the video)

· Category

· Privacy

Click Save Changes

è Copy the URL info to share your video by email

è To embed the video on your blog or website, copy the embed info

Tips for faster upload…

Uploading a video can take minutes or hours, depending on the size of the video, how you’re uploading and your internet speed. A few things that can help speed up the process:

1. Decrease the file size by switching from HD to standard or shrinking the size with a compression program. Caution: Both of these methods will lower the quality of the video.

2. Turn off all other programs running in the background that might be using your internet.

3. Avoid high traffic times. Wait to upload videos during the late evening or early morning hours when less people are using the service.

4. If all else fails, edit the video to remove some of the length (and size) or rerecord a shorter video.

Upload Video from Your Cell Phone

Note: This only works if your cell phone & service plan supports video capture and is web-enabled.

Step 1: Log into your YouTube account

Step 3: On the left side of the account page, click Mobile Setup

Simply add the email address to your cell phone address book and any time you want to send a video to your account, just email it to this address.
