The Missing Manual: FrontPage 2003 review

Product Name: The Missing Manual: FrontPage 2003
By: Jessica Mantaro

Reviewed By: Crissy Gipson, Soldotna, AK

Product Description: Tagged as “the book that should have

been in the box”, this book walks you through building a website with FrontPage.

This book is written in easy to understand language and contains lots of images. It also mentions links you can go to on the web to find more examples.

Here are some of the things included: This book contains 18 chapters; the beginning chapters explain how to open a site, add text, and save text. The topics get progressively more advanced, and near the end you are learning how to assign tasks to other users, add databases, and more. The book also provides a little info on optimizing your pages for search engine traffic.

Thoughts & Criticisms: All in all, this is a good reference book. It helped me create a basic website within a few hours’ time. However, the text can be a bit dry. I realize that it is a manual, and it isn’t meant to entertain, but it could use a little more ‘personality’.

I am a member of the Mom Masterminds website, and as a member, have access to various courses, audios, and videos. Kelly McCausey created a FrontPage video tutorial recently, and I learned more from watching that tutorial than reading this book.

I’m not saying the book is bad – it just leaves a few holes in the learning process.
